Ramblings of a WISE woman - 12Sep09

I attended The Cinderella Story last evening. This musical is produced by Pastor Connie Brooks of Pittsburgh, PA.  Pastor Brooks is cofounder with her husband Senior Pastor Neville Brooks of the Jubilee International Ministry church, in Plum, a suburb of Pittsburgh.  The play began three years ago in Houston, Texas and with God’s blessing, will be performed throughout the United States.

In this performance, Cinderella is a Christian young woman who is left to the abuses of her stepmother and stepsisters after her father’s death.  Enduring the daily grind of tending to the whims of her family, she is saddened because no matter how hard she tries they will not include her in their circle.  As she looks on her family in despair and with a sad heart,  ’Cindy’ is encouraged by various friends to look ahead and know that one day her life will change for the better as long as she remembers her commitment to God and her faith.

This musical is performed using mostly local talent.  This year’s intermission performance was an unexpected mime treat by a group of young people from St. Paul AME Church of Uniontown, Pennsylvania. These young people were an electrifying display of energy.  They presented a strong message of walking in faith and believing that anything that has been taken from you as a Christian will be regained if you hold on to your confidence in God’s power.  They were a blessing to me and I hope statement of commitment to righteousness for the young people who were present.

The fall season is starting to fill up with events.  I love this time of year because there is always some event that will catch your interest. One of the upcoming events on the Pittsburgh’s Northside is their annual Pumpkin Festival in October held in East Park just across the street from Allegheny Avenue and East Ohio Street.  This is a popular event with the local communities.

I heard from Bruce again.  He is the visitor who suggested on a previous post that we watch the Y.E.S. movie.  This time he is suggesting that we watch a movie called ‘Julie and Julia.’  This movie is two true stories; Julia Childs, the famous chef is relocated and decided to go to cooking school and how she came to prominence and Julie, a young woman who is also relocated with her husband and decides to cook every recipe in Julia Childs cook book and blog about it.

I remember this movie was launched over this summer but I haven’t seen it.  I will rent it, if it is available.  If anyone in our group has seen this film, we invite your comments.

I hope you had a great weekend; I know I enjoyed mine.

Going on its third year, Pastor Connie Brooks’ The Cinderella Story is coming back to Pittsburgh, Friday, 11 September 2009 starting at 7pm. The performance will be at Greater Works Outreach in Monroeville.

Pastor Brooks is the creator and producer of this musical journey “from poverty to the palace.”Pastor Connie Brooks alongside her husband Senior Pastor Neville Brooks are the founders of Jubilee International Ministrieslocated in the Plum Boro area just outside Pittsburgh. Their dynamic ministry is in its eighth year of operation and going strong.

Pastor Connie has ministered all over the United States and has a strong international following in such places as the Great Britain and the Bahamas. She is admired because her ministry is always challenging and encouraging particularly to those aspiring to preach God’s word. She is a frequently sought after mentor.

The Cinderella Story has drawn Christian performers from all over the US and the production is fast becoming an anticipated annual event. Many teenage girls have committed to turning their lives around and living the Christian experience. Young men are learning how to walk the Christian walk with integrity. I encourage all who have not yet seen The Cinderella Story to go see this dynamic performance and I strongly suggest that you take at least one young person with you.

This inspiring story is free to the public, however, I strongly encourage you to be prepared to help this production with a generous donation. Don’t miss your chance to witness a life-changing event; The Cinderella Story.

If you have any questions about the performance, call Jubilee International Ministries at 412 795 2116 or send an email to  jubileepitt00@yahoo.com. You can also visit their website at www.jubileepitt.com.
