I started this blog because I believe there are thousands of women who have income producing ideas that they have been sitting on for a long time just because they don’t know where to start. WISE was started to encourage you to begin your dream business; our call to action: “Do Something…Even if it’s wrong!”
In the past, I have asked subscribers to take a few minutes to talk back on this blog but there has been very little response. So, this time I am offering a prize for the person who tells us how and what they have done to get their business off the ground. If you have started a blog or website by now; I challenge you to let WISE subscribers know about it.
If you have started a business and you can prove it; I want you to comment on this blog and tell us where we can find your blog or website. Then, you must comment during the month of July and the person who makes the most comments wins. It’s as easy as that.
I know there are women who sell on EBay and who are affiliate marketers and I encourage you to talk about your business here and encourage someone else to start on their journey.
Also, I am offering a guest blogger spot on WISE for the months of August and September. If you are a blogger and want to share with the WISE members, send me an email, your blog email address and the topics you are interested in blogging about. This is an opportunity to become known to others who are not on your subscriber list. Whether you are a new or experienced blogger, this is your chance to expose your brand to a new audience.
Oh, yeah, the prize is a $50 gift card for the one who steps out on faith and talks about their business or ministry that they have started within the past six months.
I am excited to hear all the success stories.

Small businesses are the backbone of United States economy. So, when the economy is down then it is likely that small business will suffer much of the losses. This does not necessarily have to be true. There are several things you can do as a small business to keep getting paid even in a down economy.
However, many small businesses are not trained to come up with solutions to keep getting paid when they are dealing with clients with monthly accounts. Many small businesses only pursue payments after the accounts have gone past due. Even then, they pursue past due payments using traditional methods. These standard methods usually end in standard results with most of the accounts going into collection status.
Smart businesses will do something different to ensure they get paid from these clients even when the economy is not cooperating. They review their policies on payments and make adjustments to those policies that will give their clients the opportunity to pay on time and maintain their good standing with that company.
The first thing small businesses should know is that if your client is past due with you then they probably are struggling with all their bills. The smart business will recognize that whoever reaches out to the client first will probably be the one who will get paid.
- This means that instead of waiting and sending useless demand notices; call your customer and discuss their account while you still have a good relationship with them. Calling ten days before due dates will allow you to know if they are able to pay.
- Recognize that ‘one size fits all’ standard policies won’t work in a bad economy. This does not mean letting the client off the hook or going soft. It simply means to set a policy but leave flexibility for those ‘who fall outside the box.’
- Offer terms that will allow your customer to get better payment options and try to get as much money as often as you can. Also, offer discounts for early payoffs.
- When clients owe you money, utilize their services, this will remind them that you owe them but it will also let them know you are trying to support their efforts. You will come across as caring and supportive of their business.
As a small business, you are able to be more flexible than large businesses. You can maneuver your tactics for collections quicker and easier than larger businesses. Utilizing some of these suggestions will allow you opportunities to get paid while the larger businesses are still in meetings deciding how to proceed.
